Overview:

Lunarpages has been in business since the summer of 2000 when Add2Net decided to spin off their hosting service which provided managed and unmanaged hosting services. Since then, they have grown to host over 90,000 websites.

Over the past 6 years, the growth of Lunarpages has only been a positive influence on their hosting packages and customer services. They continue to maintain an excellent data center staffed by technical support representatives who do a wonderful job helping their customers.

Overall Value:

The hosting packages offered by Lunarpages are relatively competitive with other top hosting providers. They offer a healthy amount of bandwidth with all accounts for a reasonable price. On all accounts they allow unlimited parked domains and sub-domains and the better packages come with more add-on domains. The only drawbacks that we found was that annonymous FTP required the purchase of a dedicated IP and SSH was not available as an option.

Reliability:

The servers at Lunarpages are known to be some of the most reliable available today. While most companies use their profit for increased advertising, Lunarpages has been using it to increase the quality of their infrastructure at their datacenter in Los Angeles, California.

Ease of Administration:

Though Lunarpages utilizes cPanel for web-based administration tasks, they have not yet completely upgraded all of their servers to cPanel 10. There are still a few instances of cPanel 5 and 8 running though it appears that will not be for much longer.

Lunarpages also offers web-based educational tools to enhance their knowledgebase. These flash videos are detailed how-to guides on methods to administer your Lunarpages account.

Known Problems:

Users who need more that 1 GB of web-space at Lunarpages can expect on one minor annoyance. Currently, all accounts are initially limited to 1 GB, and if you need more space for your site (90% must be web-related not e-mail) you can request for increments in space by 500 MB in writing. Expect a short delay since this requires administrative approval. Also do not plan on anonymous FTP unless you want to pay for it, and SSH is not available as an option.

Other Hosting Plans:

- Voyager: 4GB stoarage, 800 GB bandwidth, 3 add-on domains, $22.95/month
- Dedicated and Reseller plans also available
